Civil Ceremonies and Churches

Civil Ceremonies and Churches

Browsholme has four wonderful locations for civil ceremonies, and many historic churches within a short drive away. Few other venues give you so many options for a marriage ceremony!

Civil ceremonies can be held in the Tithe Barn, outside at the Lily Pond, the stunning Regency Drawing Room in Browsholme Hall, or even for 2021 a new woodland location the Lonesome Pine.

From the Tithe Barn Courtyard and farm buildings to a huge lawn, stunning gardens and a picturesque lake, the gardens and surroundings of Browsholme provide countless opportunities for photographs.

Civil Ceremonies

1. The Tithe Barn

The barn can cater for civil ceremonies for up to 120 guests. The Mews Cottage next door provides a perfect space for the bridal party to get ready. All while being a short walk from the top of the ceremony room. During your reception drinks, the barn is rearranged by our efficient team in preparation for the wedding breakfast.

2. Lily Pond

The new Lily Pond is a spectacular outdoor area located within the landscaped gardens of Browsholme Hall for ceremonies of up to 90 guests. Say ‘I do’ mirrored in the reflection of this special pond created for all ceremonies whether civil, a blessing or with a celebrant. Afterwards enjoy drinks and games in front of Browsholme Hall before leading your guests to the Tithe Barn for the wedding breakfast.

3. The Drawing Room

Available for smaller parties, the elegant Regency Drawing Room at Browsholme Hall provides a setting for a more intimate and traditional ceremony from 2 to 60 people. Further information can be found here.

4. The Lonesome Pine

In anticipation that the location for civil ceremonies will soon be relaxed we have discovered a beautiful woodland location beneath an ancient pine and close to our 3 acre lake.

The Ribble Valley has many wonderful historic churches and many of the vicars are more welcoming than couples might expect.  A wedding in a church is a very special ceremony, it need not be ‘stuffy’ and an option worth reconsidering compared to a civil marriage. Our local churches include:
